The best way is an in-person inspection — which we provide free of charge. As a rule of thumb: if any boards feel soft or spongy underfoot, if railings move when pushed firmly, or if any posts appear to lean or have visible rot, you likely need structural repairs before staining makes sense.
Can you do repairs and staining in the same visit? ▼
Yes, and that's typically how we prefer to work. Repairs are completed first, then the power wash, and then staining — all by the same crew under one quote. This is more efficient and less disruptive than coordinating separate contractors.
Will replacement boards match the rest of my deck? ▼
We match the wood species (cedar, pressure treated pine, etc.) and board profile as closely as possible. Once stained, new boards blend in well with the existing deck. You may notice a slight difference immediately after staining since new wood absorbs stain differently, but this evens out over time.
What if more damage is found once work starts? ▼
